By Greg Tsichlis - May 10, 2022

Before any permit for a new salt water disposal or injection well can be filed in Texas or New Mexico a public notice of intent is required to be published for public viewing and comment. Only Sourcenergy captures and tracks these notices which provides insight into future drilling plans ahead of the drilling permit.

Sourcenergy reports a 23.4% increase in overall total number of public notices of intent to drill new SWD wells in the Permian Basin for the month of April 2022 vs March 2022. April data shows 58 vs 47 in March 2022.

Texas Permian saw the entirety of the the increase with an additional 11 while New Mexico reported no new SWD plans in the Permian.
